Award : Smith Optics’ New ChromaPop Lens Technology Awarded National Geographic Gear of the Year

KETCHUM, Idaho (November 6, 2013) Smith Optics earned its third consecutive Gear of the Year Award from National Geographic Adventure with its new ChromaPop lens technology captured a coveted spot in the Fall/Winter 2013 guide.  The color and visual clarity enhancing lenses are featured among the 25 “game-changing, best of season” new products as tested and selected by the media outlet.

ChromaPop has received several industry accolades since its launch in late August, including Gear of the Show at Outdoor Retailer from the Gear Institute and Elevation Outdoors. The lenses were also recently included the popular Gear Lab special print issue from Men’s Journal and Outside Magazine’s Winter Buyer’s Guide.

Proprietary to Smith, ChromaPop is the world’s most scientifically advanced polarized lens, with new film-free polarization technology. It eliminates color confusion for the brain, ultimately recognizing true color, faster, regardless of lens tint. When light passes through a traditional lens, there are two points where light waves intersect and the brain has to work to decipher whether its seeing red, green or blue.

With ChromaPop lens technology, the color intersections are blocked so the brain immediately recognizes true vibrant color as it should be seen with increased depth and detail of objects, while reducing eye fatigue.
